10 Houseplants that Can improve Your Home's Air CleanerYou probably don’t consider the air in your home to be toxic, but in fact the air indoors is often polluted with radon, tobacco smoke, dander, pollen, mold and a variety of other chemicals and substances. Ready to drag out the vacuum? Not so fast. Houseplants have been proven to remove many common toxins from indoor air. To top it off, houseplants provide attractive decor in any room. Consider placing a few of these common plants throughout your home or in areas where the toxicity levels could be high.

  • Aloe: Along with your home ventilation system, aloe plants work to clear chemicals from the air, such as benzene and formaldehyde, commonly found in cleaning solutions.
  • Chrysanthemum: The brilliant flowers of the chrysanthemum bring cheer to any room while detoxifying chemicals such as benzene, which is found in detergent, glue, paint and some plastics.
